At long last... and I mean LONG last, the nursery is finally (mostly) finished. This room is the smallest room in the house, except for the bathrooms, but it took F-O-R-E-V-E-R. Now some of that might be attributed to the fact that I'm pregnant and I get tired easily. And my joints feel like I'm 80 years old. And I also use it as an excuse to be lazy :-) But seriously, painting this bad boy was a nightmare. Baseboard trim, chair rail, raised panel door, raised panel bi-fold closet door (both inside and out), 6 shelves in the closet plus hanging rod... that's a lot of stuff to cut in around, with at least 3 coats because I was using white. I've come to the conclusion that this used to be a boy's room because everything was so scratched and scuffed up, especially in the closet (the closet ceiling even!) I can just picture that sports equipment being hurled in there after a long day of school and practice. Kudos to Kevin for painting the closet ceiling because I couldn't reach it, and he now knows the pain and suffering of painting a ceiling. He's lucky that the ceiling in the actual room was in decent shape. He also replaced all of the electrical outlets and the light switch because they had all been painted over and were just generally dirty and gross. And he got the other man-projects like moving all the furniture out and in, and putting together the crib and the dresser. The only things left to do are get a new light fixture (probably a ceiling fan since it gets hot upstairs in the summer), and my mom is going to make a crib skirt and changing pad cover when she comes to visit after the baby is born. And now, without further ado -- the future home of Baby McFadden... Click on photos for larger version...
Oh dear! It's getting closer! The nursery is well on the way to being done... we are looking for a dresser now and getting ready to buy some prints for walls. Hopefully will have pics up soon. It's been really busy here, but I promised myself I wouldn't schedule anything for the whole month of June so I will have time to nest :-)
These were taken at Kevin's mom's house when we went to New Jersey for the baby shower!

I've taken a scrapbooking hiatus for a little while... okay, like years. My laptop died way-back-when and I started using Kevin's old Macbook. Because Mac is different from Windows and his version of Photoshop was different from mine, I felt like it took me forever to do anything and I got frustrated. So, I kind of quit. But, now that Baby is on the way, I want to get back into it because as we all know... she will be the most photographed child in the world. For my first project, I am making a custom baby book... here are my first two page layouts. Click on the pages to see a larger view... Kit: Handle with Care by Studio Dawn Inskip
